The model number is on the label underneath the laptop, after the word MODEL. The letters that follow it, such as B9403CVA, identify the exact version.

What is inside a 2021 ExpertBook, ProArt or Chromebook
- ExpertBook B1 B1400/B1500 use 11th-gen Core (Tiger Lake) with on-board RAM plus one SO-DIMM slot (up to 48GB) and a PCIe SSD with an optional second HDD; the TPM 2.0 chip and fingerprint reader are optional, so encryption varies by unit. ExpertBook L1 L1400/L1500 is the AMD Ryzen 3000U equivalent.
- ExpertBook B9 B9400 has soldered LPDDR4x (8/16/32GB) and two M.2 PCIe slots that support RAID. ExpertBook B5 B5302 and B5 Flip B5302F have 8 or 16GB soldered plus one SO-DIMM, two M.2 2280 slots with RAID 0/1, TPM 2.0 and a 65W USB-C charger, with an OLED panel option.
- ProArt StudioBook 16 OLED (H5600 on Ryzen 5000, H7600 on 11th-gen Intel, Pro W5600/W7600 with NVIDIA RTX A-series) was announced in September 2021: 16-inch 4K OLED 16:10, the physical Asus Dial, two SO-DIMM slots (up to 64GB DDR4) and two M.2 NVMe slots; H5600 is configured as RAID 0.
- Chromebooks split into two groups: CX9 CX9400 and Flip CX5/CX3 use 11th-gen Core with NVMe SSDs (the CX9 has Google's Titan C security chip holding encryption keys), while the CX1 range (CX1100/CX1400/CX1500) uses Celeron N3350/N4500 with 64GB eMMC and 4GB soldered RAM. Flip CM3 CM3200 uses a MediaTek MT8183 and Flip CM5 CM5500 an AMD Ryzen 3000C.

Data recovery from a 2021 ExpertBook, ProArt or Chromebook
When one of these laptops will not start, the files are usually still there. ExpertBook and ProArt laptops use M.2 NVMe SSDs. Several models have two, sometimes set up as a RAID pair, and with those we need both drives. Business laptops often have BitLocker switched on by the company that issued them, so ask your IT department for the recovery key. Chromebooks are different: the files are encrypted to your Google account and the storage is often soldered to the board, so recovery depends on getting the Chromebook itself to start. Anything synced to Google Drive is not affected.
These laptops were sold with Windows 10, and many have since been upgraded to Windows 11, which can switch on device encryption by itself. If the drive is encrypted we need the BitLocker recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.
