Asus ROG 2020 Repair and Data Recovery
Asus released nine ROG models in 2020: G512, G712, G532, G732 and five more. We repair them at component level and recover data from them, in London or by insured courier from anywhere in the UK.
ROG models released in 2020
The model number is on the label underneath the laptop, after the word MODEL. The letters that follow it, such as GA402RJ, identify the exact version.

What is inside a 2020 ROG
- Strix G15/G17 (G512/G712), Scar 15/17 (G532/G732) and Zephyrus S15, M15 and Duo 15 use Intel 10th-gen Core H CPUs with GTX 16 / RTX 20 Super graphics; Zephyrus G14 GA401 and G15 GA502 use AMD Ryzen 4000H/HS with up to RTX 2060 Max-Q. GA502, GU502 and GX502 are 2019 base numbers carried over under the new G15/M15/S15 names.
- Asus applied Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid-metal thermal compound to the CPU across its 2020 ROG laptops with 10th-gen Intel processors (announced April 2020), which matters whenever the heatsink is lifted.
- Zephyrus G14 GA401: 8GB or 16GB RAM soldered plus one SO-DIMM slot, a single M.2 2280 NVMe slot, 76Wh battery, 180W adapter plus 65W USB-C PD charging; the AniMe Matrix LED lid is fitted to some configurations only.
- Strix G15 G512, G17 G712 and Scar 17 G732 have three M.2 2280 NVMe slots (RAID 0 supported); Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550 has a tilting 14-inch ScreenPad Plus second display above the keyboard.

Data recovery from a 2020 ROG
When one of these laptops will not start, the files are usually still there. ROG laptops use M.2 NVMe SSDs, and many have two or three slots. Some Strix Scar and Zephyrus models leave the factory with two SSDs striped in RAID 0, which splits every file across both drives. With those we need both SSDs to recover anything.
These laptops were sold with Windows 10, and many have since been upgraded to Windows 11, which can switch on device encryption by itself. If the drive is encrypted we need the BitLocker recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.

Can you recover my files if the laptop will not turn on?
In most cases, yes. The SSDs in a ROG laptop can be removed and read directly. If it has two SSDs in RAID 0, we need both. The first look is free.
