The model number is on the label underneath the laptop, after the word MODEL. The letters that follow it, such as X1504ZA, identify the exact version.

What is inside a 2022 VivoBook
- CPU platforms: Intel 12th gen (U/P-series in the VivoBook 14/15, H-series in the X, S and Pro models) and AMD Ryzen 5000H / 6000H (up to Ryzen 9 6900HX in the Pro line; Ryzen 5 5600H in the 15X M1503 and 17X M1703).
- This is the year the four-digit model numbers took over (X1502, X1603, K3402, K6500, N7601 and so on); OLED is used across the S and Pro lines and on the 15X OLED X1503 / M1503.
- VivoBook 15 X1502: 4GB or 8GB DDR4 soldered plus one SO-DIMM slot, a single M.2 2280 NVMe slot, IPS-level Full HD panel, and a 4.5mm barrel charger (45W or 65W, 19V).
- VivoBook 15X OLED M1503: 8GB soldered plus one SO-DIMM slot, one M.2 2280 slot (single SSD only), and a USB-C port that does not support Power Delivery.
- VivoBook S 14 Flip TP3402 / TN3402: 14-inch 16:10 convertible sold with either a WUXGA IPS or a 2.8K 90Hz OLED touchscreen. The Pro 15 OLED K6500 uses LPDDR5 memory, which is a soldered type.

Data recovery from a 2022 VivoBook
When one of these laptops will not start, the files are usually still there. Most VivoBooks store everything on an M.2 NVMe SSD, which we can take out and read directly when the laptop has failed. Budget E-series and Go models may instead have eMMC storage soldered to the board; with those, the data can only be reached by working on the board itself.
Windows 11 switches on device encryption on many of these laptops without asking. If the drive is encrypted we need the BitLocker recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.

In most cases, yes. On most VivoBooks the SSD can be removed and read directly. On E-series and Go models with soldered storage, the board has to be worked on first. The first look is free.
