Asus VivoBook 2023 Repair and Data Recovery
Asus released 24 VivoBook models in 2023: T3304, M1402, X1404, X1405 and 20 more. Two earlier models kept their numbers and changed inside. We repair them at component level and recover data from them, in London or by insured courier from anywhere in the UK.
VivoBook models released in 2023
The model number is on the label underneath the laptop, after the word MODEL. The letters that follow it, such as X1504ZA, identify the exact version.

What is inside a 2023 VivoBook
- CPU platforms: Intel 13th gen (U-series i3-1315U / i5-1335U / i7-1355U in X1404 / X1504 / X1704, P-series i7-1360P, H-series up to i9-13900H in the 14X/16X/17X and S models), with 12th gen still sold in some variants; AMD Ryzen 7000U (7530U / 7730U) in M1505, M3504 and M3704.
- VivoBook Go 14 E1404 / Go 15 E1504 use AMD Ryzen 3 7320U / Ryzen 5 7520U (F variants) or Intel Core i3-N305 / N-series (G variants); the Go 15 is also sold with an OLED panel. The 13 Slate OLED T3304 uses an Intel Core i3-N200.
- VivoBook 14 X1404 / 15 X1504 / 17 X1704: typically 8GB soldered plus one SO-DIMM slot (some variants are onboard-only or SO-DIMM-only) and one M.2 2280 NVMe slot.
- Charging changed mid-generation: earlier variants (for example X1404VA) use a 45W 4.5mm barrel plug, later ones (for example X1404VAPBF, X1504VAP) charge over USB-C at 45-48W. The VivoBook 15 OLED M1505 uses a 45W 4.5mm barrel plug.
- VivoBook 14X OLED K3405: 8GB soldered plus one SO-DIMM slot and one M.2 slot, sold with IPS or 2.8K OLED panels. The 17-inch X1704 is listed with an IPS-level Full HD panel, with a 1600x900 TN panel on some base configurations.

Data recovery from a 2023 VivoBook
When one of these laptops will not start, the files are usually still there. Most VivoBooks store everything on an M.2 NVMe SSD, which we can take out and read directly when the laptop has failed. Budget E-series and Go models may instead have eMMC storage soldered to the board; with those, the data can only be reached by working on the board itself.
Windows 11 switches on device encryption on many of these laptops without asking. If the drive is encrypted we need the BitLocker recovery key, which is normally saved in your Microsoft account.

Can you recover my files if the laptop will not turn on?
In most cases, yes. On most VivoBooks the SSD can be removed and read directly. On E-series and Go models with soldered storage, the board has to be worked on first. The first look is free.
